We love trees and the bush.

We love that bush care brings people back to country with agency. Energy input and effort grows healthier habitat and greater biodiversity, gifting that feeling of humble empowerment -

Country needs people.

Back in the early days of learning the regen ropes, we realised how the bush regeneration industry has a herbicide dependency. We are here to challenge the status quo, to demonstrate that there is another way. A way that is both ancient and contemporary, and accessible for anyone willing to learn!

This is the ‘bush tekniq’.

growing like trees..

Bushtekniq was sprouted in 2015 by us. We are jono and tali shelley, a brother-sister collab committed to holistic bush regeneration.. we love sharing knowledge in fun and accessible ways.

Bush regen is not just our job - it’s our rock, our roots, our way of life!

As bushtekniq, we listen and respond to community need, allowing fresh ideas and direction to develop, much like a tree grows fresh shoots and flowers in tune with the seasons. Meanwhile, bushtekniq's roots grow in earthy learnings to bring you hands-on-experience of “bringing back the bush”.

The Bushtekniq crew

meet the btq crew…

As holistic bush regenerators, we are living our dreams of working outside in fresh air and sunshine, flexing muscle and raising sweat.  We respectfully work with Country, and all her custodians. We never stop learning along the way!

meet tali

heya.. knowing how earth nourishes me calls me to reciprocate! Daily I regenerate my home on the beautiful Kedron Brook; I have worked upstream as a mentor in the local school garden and adjacent waterway, and downstream as a creekcare volunteer. With decades of experience in disability support and youth mentoring, I am driven to share earthy learnings in an inclusive way: BUSH REGEN IS FOR EVERY ONE!

meet jono

I’m Jono and I’m a bush carer-holic! Trees and birds; music and food; family, friends and exploring the land.. are things that make me come alive! Being a ‘bush teknishn’ has given me a way to learn, grow and share with my community and work hard for the health of the earth.

meet anna

at home outdoors, I’m fascinated by the beauty and miriad of forms in the natural world;  a qualified landscape designer, and crafty tech wiz. I have an eye for detail, and a knack with path building. I believe humans beings have a palpable responsibility to ensure healthy environments exist on earth for the billions of other species living here too.

meet the fun-guys

  • rani - I love foraging and singing capoeira songs while I am doing regen..

  • tristan - there is nothing more satisfying than finding a baby lomandra in a bunch of weeds you’ve just cleared..

  • carly - I feel that in the bush I’m finally where I’ve longed to be, after living in the burbs of Brisbane for most of my life..

  • lindsey - I love working alongside all the little creatures in the bush and our not so little trees, I get to feel like a little animal in the little ecosystem doing my little part with my little hori hori..

  • ruaela - using my earth time for planet, people and place.. living and thinking in intergenerational time scale.. caring for the land, preserving and planting the forests of tomorrow..

  • millie can't decide if her hair gets messier from doing bush care or headstands, but both make her feel pretty good!

  • kelly - I’m into complex ecosystems from soils to treetops and people being naturally involved..

  • anthea - my favourite thing about regen is planting, I love tucking the little plants into their new home with love and hope for a bright green future.. And the other people in regen, they never let you down, being around so many folk who care about our earth is up lifting..

  • gekko - often I forget how special being in the bush is, so doing regen as a job helps my short term memory..

  • nick - I like playing music and learning about the bush..
